Abstract

Giving thanks is a custom practiced by the community. In giving thanks,
the community expresses their gratitude to the creator for the harvest that
has been completed. Padungku is a local language of Poso that is closely
related to farmers. Padungku is often held when the community has
finished harvesting rice or other crops. Christians celebrate Padungku by
worshipping in church and bringing their garden or rice field produce.
Padungku is held in the middle of the year, from June to September. It is a
form of gratitude and happiness for God's presence in their lives. In ancient
times, the Israelites also celebrated a harvest festival. The Israelites called  it the day of reaping. Exodus 23:16 states that the Israelites must always preserve and commemorate the day of reaping the first fruits of their fields.
