Abstract
This article discusses maturity in dating relationship within the framework of the Christian
faith, shared spiritual responsibility in dating. As well courtship as a means to prepare for a
healthy marriage. In a Christian perspective, dating relationship are more that just feelings or
good memories. It is an important means of learning to manage emotions, deal with differences,
and communicate healthily. Emotional maturity in dating means responding to situations, be it
conflict, disagreement, or excitement, in a way that does not damage the relationship and
glorifies God. Emotionally mature couples will be better able to respond to anger,
disappointment, or disagreement with patience and understanding, and resolve problems with
loving communication and seeking fair solutions. This is in with the teaching of Jesus in the
Gospel (Matthew 18:21-22) who taught unlimited forgiveness. Emotionally mature couples are
also better able to recognise their own feelings and understand how best to express the, as well
as how a partner can lovingly support them. In addition, this article also discusses the
importance of spiritual responsibility in dating relationship according to Christian theology.
Shared spiritual responsibility means supporting your partner’s faith journey through spiritual
activities such as praying, reading the Bible, and reminding each other to live according to the
teachings of Christ. Healthy dating, from a Christian perspective, is an opportunity to
strengthen faith and spiritual disciplines, so that couples can focus on God’s will. This article
also highlights how healthy dating can be a means to prepare for a solid, God-centred marriage.
In the Christian view, marriage is a spiritual bond that reflects the relationship between Christ
and His Church, so courtship should reflect the values of love, sacrifice. Coples who court with
these principles learn to support each other, communicate well, and manage differences. All
these become provisions to build a strong foundation for a harmonious marriage. The research
method used in this article is a qualitative method, with a literature study and interview
approach.
