Abstract
Sleep paralysis is a complex phenomenon experienced by many people
around the world, linking psychological health and spiritual experiences.
The phenomenon is characterized by the inability to move or speak upon
awakening from sleep, often accompanied by intense fear and nightmares. From a psychological point of view, sleep paralysisis often related to stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders, which can worsen an individual's mental state and create a cycle of sleep-related anxiety. However, in many cultures, such a trance is also seen as an interaction with the spiritual world, encouraging individuals to reflect on their life and existence. This research utilizes the literature study method to explore the relationship between sleep paralysis, psychology, and spirituality, and its impact on mental health. A holistic approach that combines psychological therapies, such as cognitivebehavioral therapy, with spiritual practices such as meditation and prayer are considered effective in addressing this experience. By integrating both aspects, individuals can not only overcome the fears associated with trance, but also find meaning and growth in their experiences. Sleep paralysis, although it can feel disturbing, can serve as a catalyst for introspection and deeper self-understanding, thereby improving overall quality of life.
