Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of the value of love (chesed) as the
basis of religious moderation in Indonesia, based on the biblical Matthew
22:36-40. Religious moderation in the Indonesian context faces challenges due to the diversity of religions and beliefs. Through this study, the value of love is expected to be the basis that supports tolerance and harmony between religious communities. The research method uses a literature study with a theological approach to explore the meaning of love in Matthew 22:36-40 and its relevance in the context of religious harmony in Indonesia. The findings show that love, as the core of Jesus' command, has significant implications in building an attitude of mutual respect and strengthening efforts for religious moderation.
